The best payment choices are euros/US dollars and a visacard. The Brazilian currency is the real. Euros/US dollars are the most readily exchangable currency.

Electricity runs at 220 V so you may need an adaptor (most European devices should be OK).

Feel free to bring some CDs from home, we are happy to play them for you.

The sun shines every day in this idyllic place 4 degrees below the equator so we strongly advise high factor sun protection. Light clothes and one jumper for the evening is enough.

Because Canoa is very safe you can bring your jewellry if you want.

For travellers from EU countries, it's generally recommended to have Tetanus, Yellow Fever and Hepatits A immunity, but please consult a doctor before you travel. In the Ceara state, malaria protection is not necessary. If you are on prescription drugs, get the generic or Latin name so that you will be able to buy them here if need be.

Avoid walking barefoot, except on the beach and in the lodge to avoid Biche de pe, parasites that can invade the feet. Best thing is to bring some flip flops for walking around town.

Depending on the season there can be a few mosquitos so bring some insect repellant, although you can easily buy it cheaply when you arrive.

You may want to bring some toys for the beach - kites are always fun.

Canoa has a small pharmacy, post office, clothes shops and supermarket so if you do forget anything - don't worry!
